Maypole have announced that the group has reached the target of eliminating 1 million plastic bags from circulation in less than a year.
While addressing a press conference at the new shop in Ta’ Paris, Birkirkara, Maypole Director Sebastian Debono said that Maypole lived up to it’s commitment which was publicly announced last year. He said that the next step will be that of launching cloth bags especially made for the flagship of Maltese bread – Il-Ħobża tal-Malti.
Minister for Environment Aaron Farrugia visited the shop and while congratulating Maypole, encouraged other shops to follow suit. The Minister also inaugurated a vertical garden which was launched at the same location, on the façade of the new Maypole outlet.
